Episode #49 – The Internet
Welcome to Episode 49 of the Get in the G Zone podcast.
Never one to shy away from an enormous subject – too big to do more than just touch on – I want to use to today’s meditation to explore gratitude for the internet.
What do you think of when you hear the word internet? There’s a famous – and now rather funny – 1996 clip of Katie Couric and the Today Show gang trying to understand and explain what the internet is. Think about it – how would you explain it to a Martian, or a two-year-old?
The clunky techno definition is: a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.
The internet is, quite literally, ubiquitous. It’s everywhere in our world. On our phones, our TVs, our computers, our cars. It’s in every business we visit. We even have smartwatches and hats that receive WiFi. I’m not touting this as a good thing or a bad thing – it just is a thing. For which way of accessing the Internet are you most grateful?
